Entire First Episode of ‘Silo’ Now Available on Twitter from Apple

Apple has adopted a marketing strategy from Twitter pirates by uploading the complete first episode of its series Silo on the social platform. This move is unusual as it allows anyone on Twitter to watch the opening installment for free. The company’s decision follows Twitter’s recent move to permit longer video uploads for its subscribers. The free episode is worth watching as ReturnByte has described the Apple TV+ original series as “simply transcendent sci-fi TV.”

Silo is based on the American writer Hugh Howey’s science fiction novel Wool. It’s set in a post-apocalyptic version of Earth, where what’s left of humanity is confined to Silo, a 144-story underground bunker that serves as a self-sustaining underground community. The citizens are told that the world outside of Shiloh is dangerous, but questions arise about what is really there. It’s an ingenious premise that allows showrunner Graham Yost to explore the book’s themes of truth vs. fiction and information as power. Apple has reportedly renewed the series for a second season.

Rebecca Ferguson (Dune) stars as Juliette Nichols, an engineer who uncovers a web of secrets after her lover George (Ferdinand Kingsley) is murdered. The series also stars Rashida Jones, David Oyelowo, Common, Tim Robbins and Harriet Walter.

Episodes one to nine of Silo are now available to stream on Apple TV+. The season finale (titled “Outside”) premieres this Friday.
